Do bumble bees sting?

Why dont you find out and then let us know? 😉

(Incidentally, I recommend using a credit card to scrape along the skin. Do NOT pinch and pull.)

Not all bumble bees have a sting. Drones (smaller male bees that hatch in mid summer ) have no sting at all.

All bees sting. However, a rule of thumb is if it has fur, it's not agressive. If it's smooth, it's mean.

Drones don't sting, but they don't generally leave the hive.

Nope. They don't die.

Go to Japan, and fond some Japanese Hornets......

Yea those are giant. There is a colony of European Hornets that has been living in the woods near my parents' house for the past decade. Those are HUGE and nasty! Luckily this year they moved farther into the woods so we haven't seen them at all.

I'm pretty sure that's honey bees. They have a hooked stinger and they pull out their guts after stinging you. Bumble bees have a straight stinger.

Yes, they do die.

In my experience bumble bees do not die after administering a sting. Regular honey bees have barbed stingers which stay in the skin, along with the venom sac which will continue to pump venom into the victim.

Taken, of course, with a grain of salt since it is wiki.

HUGEAAAA.

The insects have been seen sipping from discarded soft-drink cans and carrying off lumps of fish and meat from bins and rubbish bags. Local authorities are receiving double the usual number of calls from people asking them to remove hornets? nests.
