No, but they can make special bonuses for warranties and whatnot I think.

Yup, that's what I've heard as well.

Alright... now Im curious. Do CircuitCity employees make commission?

I am going to attempt to get them to give me a free game when I purchase a BFG 7800GT from them tomorrow... I am sure they can spare a copy of BF2, or at the least Doom3! But I thought maybe they would be more eager to make the sale if they get a cut....

The reason I ask about CircuitCity is that when I recently purchased a new receiver I talked them into giving me a free DVD with my purchase.

No, they used to though. Nobody makes straight commission anymore, except Radioshack, and they're changing the plan later this year.

Both BBY and CC do not pay commission nor "bonuses" to regular employees for warranties.

I work at BBY (wireless sales) No one in the store is comissioned, nor does anyone get a bonus for warranty sales. I get paid enough without being commission, but I would like that warranty bonus though.

The only "commission" made through the store is keeping their job by meeting quota of selling warranties.

Sadly, as I found out, quotas have to be met, even though we are not told about them.
Especially seasonal employees.
Fvckin Best Buy.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. BB/CC employees aren't so much paid a commission for meeting the quota of warranries, they get to keep getting a regular paycheck if they meet them.

Think I could use that as part of my sales pitch for the warranty? "Sir, I like to call this the mutual service plan, you keep your ipod, and I keep my job!"

You're a fricken idiot, and a cheap bastard. Buy the game yourself. I work at CC. When pieces of crap like you come in trying to get free sh!t it pisses me off. Then I won't help you at all.

I've worked for CC and BB. I started at CC when they we were paid on commission and then for a little while after the switch to hourly, and of course hourly at BB. Neither do any type of commission for the regular employees.

I whole-heartedly agree with what you said about people asking for free stuff. Nothing is more annoying than cheap a$$es who try and haggle with you, thinking they're going to "out sell" the salesman or something.

Agreed. Though I helped a customer out when he bought a laptop. We had a deal going where we'd double the ram in gateway laptops for free- He wanted us to install a 512 chip, instead of another 256. He said, "Ok, I want the 512 stick, plus a bag and a set of speakers. And i'll get the 3 year warantee. Can you do that?"

No-name laptop bag=15 bucks at cost
Cyber Acoustics speakers=15 bucks at cost
Warantee=279.99
Price of laptop=749.99

I took 40 bucks off the laptop, gave the bag 'n crap for "Free". He was happy, i was happy, the store was happy. But when a customer looks at the flyer and sees a package, and says "How much better can you do on this?" I go, "That's the fvcking price, deal with it."

Don't fvck with retail employess. We fvck you back.

Radioshack currently pays either hourly or commish, depending on how much you sell. Once you hit about $110 an hour in sales you start pulling commission.

Also, every warranty you sell you get 10% of on your paycheck, you get paid SPIFFs for cellphones ($20 for a new, 2yr, $40/mth or up activation), plus accessories and whatnot. If you sell a family plan on 2 years with all the warranties and accessories, you basically make like $65, plus commission on the sale (about 4%) which usually comes out to another $20 or so. You can make some really decent cash working there, but only like 10% of the people in the stores actually make commission, the rest are all hourly +SPIFFs.
