Do Any Speed Reading Programs Work?

I actually read relatively fast among most people, but I always wonder if that insane speed reading works. Any opinions/recommendations for certain products?. I'd like to try it if I'm actually reading everything, and not just looking for key phrases or something.

It sounds like a really useful tool, especially for any students who have to do lots of reading.

RudeBoie, I took a class in HS that was more geared towards "efficient" reading than "speed reading," and I found it quite helpfull. Hope this helps :)

I bet they probably do...I think the key is teaching yourself to look at words instead of reading them in your head. I can't do it...when I read I read each word in my head out loud...that slows you down

That was basically the hurdle the HS class I took was all about CrazyDe1, skipping certain words while still connecting the dots, not for speed, but for the fact you aren't wasting time re-reading passages.

Except for real deep books that require comprehensive reading (Beyond Good and Evil for instance), I read really quickly. I'll skip words that are not neccesary to read (such as, in the sentence, he said, "the quick brown fox jumped the fence." I'll skip the 'he said' portion).

I have read two books in the past two days :)
