Do any of your mouses make a noise when you use them to scroll?

Using WinXP here on a Dell machine, and when I click on the scrollbar on the side and scroll up and down, there is a scratchy noise that comes from the computer. When I stop scrolling it stops. Does anyone else have this problem at all? How do you get rid of it?

Whenever I roll my mouse across the counter, not only does it make noise, it bites my hand too. Damn mouse. I KNEW I should've sprung for the extra fifty-cents and gotten a Pet Store mouse instead of pulling one off the glue trap in the basement!

Mine squeaks.

Get it? "SQUEAKS!" ROFLMAO . . .

Actually, no--only the scroll wheel makes a soft clicking soft. Nothing from the PC speakers--Could it be some kind of sound scheme you have? BTW: I have a MS Optical dealy.

I've heard of that before....in fact that has happened to me before. You mean the scratchy sound coming from your speakers, sounds almost like a modem/fax but quieter. In fact it was on a Dell machine as well (which I'm sure is just coincedence b/c I've seen 100s of Dell PCs with no probs). Anway I can't help you out though b/c i honestly don't know what I did to fix it. I'll think on it though.....I think I may have reinstalled mouse drivers, sounds drivers, and then just turned the speaker away from me b/c I rarely use them at work anyway.

My Logitech Trackman Marble's scrollwheel makes a soft clicking noise that I normally don't notice unless I'm listening for it....

Is it more like a screechy noise coming from the back of the computer? This happened to me once, whenever I scrolled the mouse wheel or used the Page Up/Down keys. Turned out to be a faulty power supply. (I'm not nuts because I've read about this problem occurring with other people too :))

Sorry but I'm not going to be much help :)

I had this before at some point, using a sblive, and an unknown motherboard, changing the motherboard solved it for me.

You could try changing drivers, or resources for the card (not sure if you can easily change the resources though)

I used to hear it on my old computer. I always assumed it was the CPU. I only heard it when I used auto scroll though (when you scroll with the double sided arrow). The noise was very quiet. It was high pitched as I remember. It was an Athlon 1200/KT133
