Do any of you prepare dinner/meals a week in advance?

Meaning say on Sundays you take a few hours out of your time and cook a meal for Mon-Fri? I'm thinking about doing this but what it is like kinda eating left overs every night. It wouldn't necessarilly be the same as eating it fresh out of the over if you know what I mean.

We don't but with certain meals it should work fine. Could also get one of those foodsaver things that sucks the air out of everything. Supposed to stay fresher that way.

I need more variety for dinner, but I often reserve Sundays for big, long-cooking meals like a roast or a turkey and eat them for lunch all week.

No I usually just eat sandwiches. I go out to a buffett if I want variety. It is a little more expensive eatingout, but not a whole lot. I'm not the best cook, plus I hate doing the dishes. I can eat out all I can eat for between $6.50-$9.00, and that is good food. It costs a little more on the weekend, but I usually just eat luncheon meat on the weekend or something.

I plan meals about once a week, and if we're eating a big meal, we'll have some of it the next day, but I don't think I'd be able to cook enough food for a week and still have it taste good by the time we got around to eating it.

A lot of times i'll make a big pot of chili or make some large pizzas and just munch on them throughout the week. It not only saves you money but it keeps you full also.

Depending on what kind of cook you are, you can sometimes prepare parts of meals, like the dry ingredients, etc, something that won't bad in 2-3 days and then just toss it all together come dinnertime later in the week.

I try to make use of my freezer.

Prepared ahead are pasta sauce, beef stew and beef vegetable soup. Try to make 7 servings of each.

Oh yes, I always have at least 2 servings of SOS on hand. I have it on biscuits every Sunday morning. (for the Brit types, I mean biscuits not cookies). :)

I routinely freeze things like spaghetti sauce and chili portions after making it in large quantities. That way, if I want one or the other later in the week/month, its just a thaw and quit simmer on the stove;)

No. I generally eat leftovers for lunch the following day, and maybe supper the following night if there's more left, but I don't pre-cook stuff.

I used to do this all the time. It was just my son and I. Between work, school, sports (both of us on teams), there wasn't time to cook dinner every night. I would always make one or two things on Sunday and we would eat them throughout the week and Friday night was always order-in-pizza night. Having too many leftovers was never a problem either as my son and his friends would pretty much demolish everything in the 'frige within a couple of days.
