Do any of you own a deep fryer?

If so, what brand and how is it? I was watching QVC or one of those channels and they had a demo for this really awesome deep fryer. I forget which brand it was. Thanks!

qvc or home shopping network? hsn often sells ultrex brand kitchen utilities including a deep fryer.

I have a DeLonghi deep fryer that I bought at Costco for around $50. It works pretty well, except I hate cleaning that thing. I would imagine all deep fryers are pretty annoying to clean.

Do you reuse it ?

I currently deep fry with a deep pot.

I have a Bravetti deep fryer, great for a number of things, easy to clean....just cleaning anything filled with oil is annoying.

You can cook a few times in it before you need to change the oil. When replacing oil for frying, mixing old and new is a good idea (i could explain this...but i dont remember *why* its a good idea and i dont feel like finding the book i have that brings it up) So you can strain the used oil through some cheesecloth, fill the fryer half way with that and the other half with fresh oil.

I funnel oil im ready to get rid of into a soda bottle or a milk jug and stick it in the trash can.

Had a couple now, you should look for one that has a removeable liner so it's easier to clean, I filter the oil like xSauronx, We use it every couple of weeks, sort of nice to make fries @ home.

We also like breaded mushrooms & shrimp.

yes, be sure your deep fryer is easy to clean. you'll probably use it more if it is.

Yep... Current deep fryer is better than last one though, it has a filter on the lid that helps keep down the smell.

I guess I can deal with teh stink 🙂 I *heart* fried food~

Be careful with them though, saw a thing about how easy they were to:

a) knock over
b) catch on fire (Usually as a result of a, or leading to a.

I have a medium sized deep fryer with a basket. It's a pain to clean because you have to get a seperate container to put the used oil in. I usually use the oil until it starts getting darker because then the flavor changes. After taking the oil out I usually go around the inside of the fryer with a damp rag or paper towel to loosen up the oil on the sides. After that I go around the inside with a dry rag or paper towel to sop up the leftovers. It's a fry daddy like deep fryer and it works great!
