Looking into meditation and looking for advice. I never really knew there were so many varieties of meditation.
Ideally I'm looking for something that I can do for a short while 1 or 2 x/day to bring a little "peace" to myself.
I guess basically I'm looking for some calming techniques if you will. Just a little something to reduce stress and chill a bit.
Ideas? Recommendations?
Thanks.

I don't have any advice, but I meditate every day after I get to work for about half an hour. I basically just put on my "around the house" clothes and sit on the floor with my legs crossed and hands clasped together. The evidence is purely anecdotal, but I think it has helped me develop clarity in my constantly thinking brain.

video games

1. close eyes
2. pay attention to breathing
3. mentally count 1 on inhale 2 on exhale 3 on inhale 4 on exhale up to 10 then repeat
4. visualize the air entering your nose and entering your lungs and giving you energy as white light
5. visualize the air exiting your lungs and taking negative energy and impurities out of your body as dark light
6. repeat

To address some replies:
- Video games do the exact opposite. They wind me up like no tomorrow
- Blackdog I may try something like that. Thank you.
- Wish I could just go to sleep, but that's part of the problem
- I do run. 7-9 miles every other day. While it's "peaceful" it's not what I'm thinking.
I'd love to hear more ideas. Thanks.
