Do AIW cards have reduced performance?

Do All In Wonder boards suffer performance penalties over their equivalent siblings? IE. How does a AIW 9800 Pro (128MB) compare with a regular 9800 Pro? I havn't seen any benchmarks (at least not with recent GPUs) of AIW cards..

Hmm.. good.. I figured since the board layout is different to accomodate the AIW features, there'd be a performance hit..

Any implications for overclocking?

They should be the same except there dvi port is replaced with the tv tuner.

They were slower up until about the 8500, but since the 9xxx series they've een equal to the non-AIW counterparts..

Don't think it is slower at all.
Added features but the card is just as powerful as the non-AIW

It is not that they have reduced performance. They just are not tweaked as much as the performance tuned versions of the same chipsets. The clock speeds are generally about the same as the initial Pro releases of the chipset when they are released.

Sure they are, what "tweaks" are you refering to? I'm not aware of any. In fact the AIW9600pro is faster than the non-AIW 9600pro. There were only a couple Radeon models (8500dv and AIW 7500) that were clocked lower than the non AIW counterparts, otherwise they use the same VPU and memory clocks.

If you want an AIW card only for the tv tuner, I would recommend getting a pci one and a regular video card instead. That way, when you want to upgrade your video card, you won't lose the ability to watch tv.

Its the 8500dv, I mentioned it above. The AIW 8500 128 is clocked 275/275 just like retail.

Hmm.. good point.. although I wonder how long the major vendors will continue releasing performance cards for AGP.

I'll actually want to use it for two things:
1) Capturing TV
2) Digitizing videos, from an 8mm camcorder and possibly VCR (I wonder if there's software that will clean up old videos?)

Will the tv wonder do all of that?
Know of any (reputable) comparisons of different video capture cards? (I don't like googling for info of what I want to buy.. last time I did that, I was convinced a GeForce4 MX440SE was a swell video card!)
