do actors deserve to be paid so much money?

for this year:

Robert Downey Jr.: $75 million
Channing Tatum: $60 million
Hugh Jackman: $55 million
Mark Wahlberg: $52 million
Dwayne Johnson: $46 million
Leonardo DiCaprio: $39 million
Adam Sandler: $37 million
Tom Cruise: $35 million
Denzel Washington: $33 million
Liam Neeson: $32 million

I don't know. Should a bucket of popcorn be $8 so that a business can make enough profit to stay afloat showing movies made by these overpaid actors?

If I choose to see a movie in the theater I only pay nine dollars. Why should I care what the producer chose to pay the star?

Well... they need to find a way to take money from the masses/general population with $9 movie tickets, give it all to one or a few perople (move stars)... who then blows it all on exotic fancy cars, shopping sprees, million dollar homes, hookers, drugs, and booze...

yes, it's the market that decided they deserve that much money anyway.
You don't pay more to see a movie just because the actor is paid more or anything.

If you think about it, they make a big trade off. Imagine being so popular that everyone recognizes you. Can't even take a night out at the bar with friends without people taking pictures of you and annoying you (not to mention if your friends weren't rich to begin with they could just want your money anyway).

Lots of time they only depict the awesome aspects of being famous and ignore the crap. But there's lots of crap to be put up with. I'd say they deserve it (better put - earned it).

Only people who don't deserve / earn it are those who win the lottery and those who inherit.

Yep

I will take my privacy and freedom over Millions any day of the week.

Not me. I'd buy plenty of privacy and freedom by having a 1000 acre plot with my own personal motocross course, bicycle trails, etc.. Groceries could be delivered or picked up by my Butler.

Depends what you like to do I suppose. I like going out to places and doing stuff / traveling. I don't want to have to barricade myself away somewhere.

If I ever earn millions I don't want anyone to know about it. People already give me crap for making a decent wage and putting money away at the same time. I'd hate to see who would ask me for handouts.

No thanks, materialistic things don't bring me happiness.....very little and when they do it's short lived anyways.

No-one truly knows how much actors get paid due to a Hollywood accounting.
Actors can be paid with net % of the profits in addition to basic salary, meaning nothing as movies like Return of the Jedi never did turn profitable. (according to hollywood accounting.)

Channing Tatum does not deserve $60 mil for that disaster "White House Down".

So glad I was able to sneak out of that theater room and into another movie that was going at the same time.

I tapped out 30 minutes in.

usually Actor's pay IS SOLID.

the "holywood accounting" is usually to screw out tax's and such.

Well you still helped to pay his salary if that was the ticket you bought...

This.
Money is useless if you just use it for material stuff, but you can still buy experiences, by traveling or whatever.

Material possessions get boring or expected after a short lived honeymoon.

The problem is - when you can buy anything you want, there isn't always that "next best thing" anymore. The feeling wears off.

Those people that buy big yachts and party all the time are headed in the right direction, but even in that scenario - I find it hard you know who your true friends are.

Small parties and trips with close friends / family is where I think I'd be.
