DNS suffix

Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Running windows xp, under DNS APPEND these DNS suffixes(inorder). How does this work. If I have 2 applications that need 2 different ones, which goes first? Does it matter what order there in? Thanks

They will be tried in order until one resolves, if you have two hosts in different domains that you'll be using you should be using the FQDN.

Those are 3 different domains. And like I said, the first one to succeed will work. And on top of that I believe Windows tries the domain you're joined to (usually the primary for that connection) first, so if you're an AD client in comp.net and there is server.comp.net it won't matter about the others because that will always succeed first.

Basically you should save yourself the trouble and use the FQDN of the box, don't rely on Windows to pick the right one.
