DNS problems in Windows Server 2003

here's the problem: i want domain.com to point to www.domain.com (the logical place for it to point) but it currently points to the wrong server (the ip address of the mail server). i've removed the (same as parent folder) pointer (A-name) that points to the incorrect server from DNS\<server>\Forward Lookup Zones\domain.com several times and it works great (there is another A-name below that points to the correct server). the problem is that every night, the DNS tables get updated somehow and the incorrect value is back! this is becoming a real pain in the neck! i've removed the value from both servers (which should be authoritative) and they keep coming back! any ideas?

Hey, sorry about the long response time, hope somebody is still interested in helping!

yes, it is AD integrated. the correct server (our primary domain controller) is reported as being the "primary server", i assume that means it is authoritative?
