Reminds me of those douchebags who bought a whole bunch of shitty indie games to try to get Portal 2 released a couple of hours early.

"Shitty indie games"? Did you even play any of them? Amnesia, Killing Floor, and Super Meat Boy are some of my favorite games of all time. Not to mention, I already owned most of the games before the ARG anyway. Yeah, right: A bunch of people who have a passion for gaming decide to join up, work together, and spend a few bucks on some indie games (because they can afford it) so they can help release Portal 2 earlier, are now apparently douchebags?

I'd be shocked if it gets more than an 80 average from metacritic. Unless the multiplayer turns out to be phenomenal it looks very forgettable.

Actually, given how retarded the current video game "rating scale" is, DNF will most likely will get 80+. This is why I only get my reviews from RockPaperShotgun and similar sites. The number system is far too messed up to really trust anymore. A game can receive an 80 on Metacritic, but still be very mediocre. That's just wrong to me.

Whatever makes you feel better about being suckered into such a stupid marketing scheme, douchebag.

Anyone else think it's a bit naff that to demo their game you have to purchase it first?

From what I understand there is going to be a public demo.

But people who are in the first access club will get early access to the demo.

As for DNF going gold, I hope it lives up to the hype, and the 12+ year development times. People are probably not going to pay attention to how many developers have touched the game. All the fans are going to see is gearbox and 2k games and 12+ years.

I bought the potato bundle before I realized what it was for. So I don't personally agree that everyone who bought this was stupid, even under the guise of the marketing scheme. However, I remember that a lot of people started bitching when the 'meters weren't filling up fast enough'. Those people came across as retarded to me, either you bought the indie games because you liked them or you didn't. Nobody who partook had any guarantee of getting Portal 2 early because they had no guarantee that the number of people playing the indie games and completing the tasks required to speed up the date would be met.

I didn't think of it as a marketing scheme. I thought of it as getting 13 awesome games for really cheap. Thanks for your kind words though.

Downloadable patches don't make much difference if you can't read discs or install the game...

Unless you're Ubisoft. :sneaky:

I loved the original Duke but I'm still a bit sceptical about this one. Can't wait for a demo.

I have an used First access club code (preordered, then bought Borderlands after) for anyone that wants it. Not sure if having less than ten posts or so will affect my ability to PM, so interested persons may need to provide an alternate means (skype, email, SMS) to get it.
