Pre-Ordered the uber $99 box set here, I cannot wait but I won't touch the demo because I don't want to be teased.

Early access to the demo. This has been going on for a while.
Doesn't make it any less stupid. Demos are marketing tools, so why are they treating it like some privilege for them to market to us? I swear, make anything sound exclusive, and people will go crazy for it. You see the new exclusive Taco Bell ad? I heard you can get an Itunes voucher for it when you buy a Beefy Melt Burrito; I'm so excited!

Gamers are just so dumb.

To be fair - in this particular case - they're also giving people the opportunity to pick it up via the purchase of a game that's getting close to 2 years old and has been discounted on more than one occasion on Steam. I happened to get Borderlands when they had the ridiculous sale on the 2K pack one holiday, so some people might have even got it inadvertently.

I would be surprised if most people who are actually into FPSes don't own Borderlands by this stage.

I don't see how that's any better, but I wouldn't be surprised if it actually worked. People are definitely impatient enough to buy a game they aren't interested in to get a marketing tool a couple weeks early.

Yeah, not saying I'm a huge fan of the tactic, but at least in this case there's another option than just 'pre-order to get the demo/beta' - and one that many people are already eligible for. :)

Why would you pre order a game to gain access to something that's only purpose is to decide weather or not you want to buy the game?

I stand with the opinion that Gearbox is just stupid for doing this, and has done nothing but make me even less interested in their game.

Reminds me of those douchebags who bought a whole bunch of shitty indie games to try to get Portal 2 released a couple of hours early. Gamers are unbelievably stupid (as a group).

Yeah, that was silly.

At least the people who got all the potato's and the golden one were given the Valve complete pack and Portal 2 for free.

The funny part of that is that the early access group gives the impression that it is going to be earlier than the rest of the people. At the time this started their was not release date for the demo or the game.

Now, the "early access" is about a week before the actual game. Given that much time before the full release, the "general" public are only going to be a day or so behind (otherwise, why bother making a demo for a "small select group").

While I do not own borderlands or any other that had the early access club (if their was another), I am not too fussed. I am wondering which will be first, the hacked early release club or the release to the public demo. IIRC one post I remember reading mentions one of the console's having the demo floating on torrent sites already. But not a consoler so did not look any more into it.

now it's time for someone to go through the old threads and bump all the "it will never" arrive/get published threads.

My give a [hoot] factor is at an all-time low for this game.

Please don't use profanity in PC Gaming or other technical forums

-Thanks

I'd be shocked if it gets more than an 80 average from metacritic. Unless the multiplayer turns out to be phenomenal it looks very forgettable.
