18 years gone, that was the prime of their lives too. These men have now missed out on careers, job training, and have totally missed the boat on all the major events that happened. Hell, they haven't even been told about internet porn yet!

No sh*t. NO AMOUNT OF MONEY can make up for you 18 yrs of youth.

the time to have a career, start and raise a family, enjoy life, its
all gone!!!!

Fair is fair. Lock the cops up for 18yrs.

no its not.

they did the same thing to a 14 yr named Michael Crowe
just last year. Detectives completely overlooked a drifter
with a prior record and focused on this 14yr and his close
friends. Since Michael Crowe was only 14 and had no record
they said it was his video games that made him act out the
killing of his sister.

they interrogated him for hours upon hours and said they had
evidence they didn't even have. They also told him his own
mother and father hated him. They kid is ruined for life and will
never trust cops again. Neither will his parents or friends. I
suggest watching the documentary on CourtTV tonight. It is
pretty chilling what they did to this family.

cops don't videotape most confessions because this is how they get them. By depriving
the suspect in question of sleep, food, water, threat, false statements.

detectives can sit there and lie to you. they can tell you they got your blood on a piece of clothing and you need to cooperate. they can tell you that your family wants nothing to do with you and you need to cooperate.

these confessions are still not videotaped except in two states! they are not video taped so that detectives can break they law to gain a confession if need be.

just last year a 14 yr old boy was forced to confess killing his sister. it ended up being some drifter who entered their home but detectives were bull headed and completely focused on the helpless boy and 2 of his friend.

www.michaelcroweonline.com CourtTV is showing the documentary again tonigh. Its been on for like the last week straight.

The dirty tactics.. When will they stop?

Bullsh!t!

i dunno...i would never confese to raping and killing a girl...no matter how much they interrogated me...when dealing with police ALWAYS get a lawyer before talking to them...even if you are innocent, a lawyer would never have let this confession happen

You think that now, but sleep deprevation can change your mind. Think of it like the Agents hacking Morpheous' mind in The Matrix; under that kind of pressure, you will eventually crack. Why do you think that the Feds are using it on the Guatonamo Bay(do I even have this spelled right) prisoners.

but if u tell them u refuse to answer questions without a lawyer, then they cant keep questioning you

i mean im not saying that its not f*cked up.....but im just saying, this is why you should know your rights and what you would do before it happens...

Yes they can!!! In only 2 states are things videotaped. Generally if
detectives need to bend the rules for a confession they will. Some
just go farther then others do. I assume after time they start bending
them futher and further because they get cocky.

Not bullshit. Do you have cases to back things up? There is only 2 states that
require the confession to be videotaped! You watch CourtTV tonight and watch
the true Michael Crowe documentary and tell me what I said is BULLSH!T!. It
just happened within the last year as well. This is not some outdated refrence.

There is a difference in states NOT requiring a videotape and NOT being videotaped. Most confessions are videotaped these days if at all possible.

well duh yeah. but think about it.

If I am a detective and I know that its not required to have a confession videotaped Then if I am investigating a case and might have to bend the rules, all I have to do is not videotape it.

Simple solution REQUIRE all states to videotape.

Yeah, videotaping is too expensive compared to peoples' lives. For a while I forgot you were the guy who was proud of his ancestors' owning slaves.

if there is money to equip all cop cars w/ cameras, then money can be appropriated for this too. there are less interrogation rooms than cop cars.

I don't know if the guys did it or not in this particular case, but the mere fact that the DNA found on the body is someone else's does NOT mean these men were not involved with the crime. All it means is, the DNA does not place them at the crime, it doesn't mean the DNA places them NOT at the crime (somewhere else). Still, without knowing the details of this case, I would think it would be pretty easy to create "reasonable doubt" if the DNA belongs to someone else.

Cops can lie and use many different tactics to try to get you to 'confess'..... If they really think you did it or were involved, they can really put the heat on you. Still, if the cops ever want to question me about *anything*, the first words out of my mouth will be "I will not answer any questions until my lawyer is present". No matter what happens after that, even if they do force a false confession out of you at that point (by using whatever tactics), it will not be allowed as evidence.
