I am very confused. I submitted a business web URL and followed the instructions very clearly on DMOZ. It is for a small directory, of which maybe only has 25 sites under it. It was nearly a month and half ago that I submitted the information and have not heard anything from them and the site is not listed. What bugs me even more is that there are a ton of websites in that directory which are either offline now or have a "parked/for sale" when you go to them.

Any idea on how I can become an editor for that section, even though it doesnt say it needs one. I think the editor for the section fell asleep.... a very long sleep.

Plan on waiting. It really depends on the category though. I have been waiting for three years, so don't feel bad.

I think that site is pretty useless now. I was finally included last year. How did I do it? I applied and became the editor of the section and added my own site. Once in there I was able to see that no one had done anything for probably around a year or more. And once my site was listed I noticed that it brought me *Maybe* 10 hits a month.

Meh, they've since kicked me from being an editor and that section is once again useless. Hey, I didn't go and update every day, but once a month is better than once a year.

LoL, that was the same thing I did... became my category editor and added my site. The category hadn't been updated in like 2 years... I finally got kicked out again because I never updated the category.

It isn't useless. DMOZ is useful for the number of backlinks it creates. I think G also pulls the description for its supplemental results IIRC. The number of hits directly from DMOZ is not really the important part.

Yeah, I was an editor for DMOZ at one time for the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. A month and a half is nothing when waiting for a DMOZ listing. Good luck and don't hold your breath waiting.

These days it takes forever. Non-commercial sites have a much better chance than commercial sites. Becoming an editor will greatly increase your chances.

I don't think anyone actually updates DMOZ anymore. Well except for the super elite clan of dmoz "volunteers", who only put their own sites in, or only other little sites they know can't compete with theirs.

Also the only real benefit of a dmoz listing is the incredible power of its pagerank backlisting. If you're on dmoz youre bound to be on all the major search engines for your keywords within a few months.

LOL i just applied to be an editor and got accepted within the day. Seems to be quicker than getting your site listed
