I can't seem to get DMA to stay enabled on my hard drives. I check the box and then after I reboot the box is unchecked again. I just did a reformat of my C drive. I have two hard drives on my system. Prior to the reformat I had no trouble with this issue. Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure why...but the sixth time must have been a charm. I didn't do anything differently except I did a thourough cleanup of the disk with norton systemworks (reg clean, optimization, windows checkup etc. ) and then when I enabled it ...it worked.

I had the same problem on my Soyo SY-6BA+IV mobo.

turns out the onboard UDMA was NOT working.

I had to get a new motherboad. - I found out because CD's would not burn properly if at all, at speeds 8X or above, 4X was the only write method that worked.. I knew my DMA was screwed after that. Not saying that this is your problem.. But it's not out of the question if you've tried everything else.
