DMA on LiteOn DVD?

Guys,

After reading an web article recently on DMA I checked the settings on my rig: EPoX 4SDA+, P4-1.6A, LiteOn 163D DVD, Yamaha CRW3200 CD-RW, Win98SE. Neither drive's DMA boxes were checked, so I checked them. System went nuts; had to do a registry restore to get it back. Then checked only the Yamaha drive, and no issues. So, I did a Google Groups search and found there are issues w/ DMA and LiteOn drives, including DVD.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what did you do to fix it?

TIA,

Jeff

My Liteon dvd and my friend's Liteon dvd rom drives are both showing DMA on with no problems either.
I have an Athlon XP machine and he has a P3 machine. We're both using Win98SE too.

Thanks for the replies. Would/could there be an issue w/ turning on DMA to more than one drive, at the same time? When I did the checkmark in the box thing I did it for both the LiteOn DVD and Yamaha CD-RW at the same time. Would it be a better procedure to do each drive separately, w/ a reboot between?

EDIT: Guys, I think I answered my own question. After the positive responses I checked the DMA box in Device Mgr. Came through the reboot fine. So, at least one possibility is that enabling DMA for more than one device at a time might not be a good idea.
