I just got a LiteOn 16x DVD-ROM along with a Sony 16x CD-RW today. They are recognized fine in Win2k Pro and are able to read and play DVDs etc, but neither are able to run in DMA mode. I know the LiteOn is definitely capable of running in DMA and I'm pretty sure the Sony would be too but nothing is working!
They are both on the secondary IDE controller on my KT7A, the Sony is master and LiteOn is slave. The secondary IDE is set to Auto detect of DMA or PIO. Nothing is allowing them to startup. Device Manager->Hardware Profiles->IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers/IDE Secondary IDE Channel/Advanced is set to Auto detect as well.
Both run in PIO mode on startup and now my 16x burns a CD slower than my 10x cause it keeps running out of buffer and slowing down. Is there anything else I can do to try and enable this? Searching has only given me these two options which I have already tried. TIA.
