so, how do i make sure DMA is turned on in XP? how do i make sure the network adapter is set to full duplex in XP? or are they both auto handled?

go to control panel ----> system ------> hardware tab ----> device manager -------> IDE ATAPI/ATA drives ------> click on the appropriate channel --------> advanced settings.
there you should see options for DMA.
