DLP TV Question

Does anyone know of some FS/FT forums for DLP TV stuff? I need a Bulb model TY-LA1000. I had a used DLP given to me which gives the bulb needs replaced error. I have no problem buying one new if I knew that was for sure the only problem.

I was hoping to find someone that might have one used that was replaced so I can try it out and see if its for sure the problem and nothing else.

well was hoping some ppl replace the bulb before it actually burns out. Some TV's have warning don't they when the bulb needs replaced? Its not something I want to use, was just hoping to find one to try before I buy a new one.

Have you checked AVSForum.com? Search your TV model and there is likely a huge thread on it in there somewhere with lots of troubleshooting info. DLP's are in the Display Devices-Rear Projection Units area.

no way would i buy a used bulb.

when my Mitsubishi DLP bulb went out i just got a bulb and put it in the housing. it was $89 vs $150.

I'll give that a look. I haven't looked yet. Again this is for testing purposes. I'm not gonna give more than $10 or so for a used bulb. If its the bulb for sure I am gonna buy a new one. I know this is a long shot but was wanting to try before buying new.

I don't think you're going to have much luck finding a used bulb. I think it is more likely they may have the info you need there to troubleshoot the issue and be confident it is the bulb that needs to be replaced or if there are other possibilities to check first.

Have you pulled the bulb out of yours? When mine went it WENT, there were pieces of glass all over inside the housing.
