XP Home Edition

I tried to install a D-Link wireless adapter and my laptop gave me a BSOD..

I used Barts PE to run the chk disk and it corrected some index enteries and said "not enough memory"

Now, when I try to boot up I get the following error

dll c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll is not a valid windows image...

How do I get to boot up my laptop... TIA

[*]Try last known good configuration
[*]Can you boot into safe mode?
[*]Boot to the XP cdrom, hit R at the first screen for a repair, then choose your windows directory, then enter the password, then type chkdsk /r at the prompt
[*]If all of the above fails try a repair installation

I did run chkdsk thrice and every time it 'deletes' and 'corrects' hundreds of files.. But still in the end it hangs up and the laptop does not boot.

run memory and hard drive hardware tests.
