Dlink DI 624

I just bought Dlink DI 624. The setup is:

ADSL modem (USB) connected to PC1
PC1's NIC configured as 192.168.0.1
PC1's NIC connected to DI 624
DI 624 configured as 192.168.0.2
DI 624 port 2 connected to PC2
PC 2 is using DHCP from DI 624

I tried to connect PC1 to port 1 and PC1 to ADSL modem port. There is no difference between the ports.
I have flash it to version 2.50b

The problem is PC2 cannot connect to internet. Anybody can help?

The file/printer sharing internally is OK - between PC1 and PC2.

Thanks.

Sounds like PC2 isn't getting an IP address.

Do this:
Start->run->cmd

then type ipconfig

what is the IP address that it gives for PC2?

ip address : 192.168.0.104
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
gateway : 192.168.0.1 - > this is what PC1 has on the NIC (connected to DI 624)

I also tried to put static IP, 192.168.0.3. it doesnt work

Thanks MCrusty,

I figured it out. I need to setup the Router ip address to 192.168.0.254

I don't understand why. Can anyone explain?

Thanks

You PC1 has the same IP as your router!
You should set it like DHCP does on the system
start with 192.168.1.101 for pc1 and go up
There is also a static dhcp option in the router's menus so you can assign a particular ip to a given MAC adress. If you don't have this option, just get the newest firmware on d-link's website.
