Going down 3.2%, then up 3.0% for a total swing today of 6.2%-just another routine day. Ho hum.

I still stick by my OJ Simpson/good news theory as being just as rational as any other explanation.

The mega corporation bankruptcies haven't hit yet
What are the specific mega corps you're talking about? Walmart? McDonalds?

I have lots of things listed both in my economy thread as well as in sig.

Don't forget the 31 states that will have to decalre bankruptcy

Going up nicely today. I cannot help but wonder if this is a good time to move a few more % of my 401k into bonds. The bonds I bought two months ago have already made 5-10%, which is quite nice. I am not convinced this rally isn't a bit optimistic. I will certainly stay stock-heavy, though, especially at this point. It is starting to look more and more like 7-8k is the bottom to this, but I expect we will see sub-8 again.

States don't declare bankruptcy, dumbass.

And make sure to post this into your Economy Thread - McDonald's same-store sales jump in November

Well now that the week of bad news is over. the DJIA is up 514 points for no reason what so ever.

Temporary excuse is Obama's new new deal.

12-8-2008 Dow Soars 300 as Investors Cheer Obama Spending Plan

Wall Street is sharply higher in early trading as investors are optimistic that President-elect Barack Obama's infrastructure-spending package will help boost the crippled economy. Obama announced plans for the largest U.S. public works spending program since the creation of the interstate highway system a half-century ago. That could bolster the economy by putting thousands of people to work.

If the Dow goes below 8000 again I'd just go all in on U.S. equity, much like Gates and Buffet have/are doing. But frankly, it could easily dip further yet again sometime in January when the (very very likely dismal) Q4 results come in. Perhaps the market has already priced in a bad Q4 considering we usually see a 6-9 month lag, but all in all Dow is probably going to stay roughly around this range for several months.

Down around 8200 again today.

A little ways to go to hit 3600.

It's up today, we're almost at 57,000.

Up over 300. Feels like too much, there's no way this can hold (I mean, beyond the short term; I think it will sink again), especially with most of the news coming out continuing to be quite sour.

Of course, that's a coin-flip, I have no idea :)
