The fact that it looks a little more unique than your average econo-box is a bonus for me, even if the looks don't appeal to everyone. I looked at and test drove toyota, honda, mazda & hyundai. The fit and finish of the interior is excellent and it has all the features that I wanted (leather,cd,cruise, etc). The car handles well and has enough power but I never expected or wanted a high performace sports car. The mazda3 was a close 2nd but I didn't like the cloth seats and some other interior features + the sales people (2 dealerships) were a bunch of lying sacks of shit. Keep knockin the Hyundai all you want but I love my little car : )
Congrats!

I've had my
'05 Elantra GT hatch for just over a month and love it to death... for the money, you can't beat the features and warranty. I also drove just about every compact hatch out there (Focus, Mazda3, Matrix, Golf, etc.) but the Hyundai won out ... Plus, the dealer was exceptionally pleasant to deal with, unlike the others.
Oh, and Hyundai doesn't need a new brand name, they're doing just fine with the one they've got. Sales this year have been way up, and that doesn't even take into account all the new product that is coming (new Sonata, Accent, Elantra, Santa Fe, Azera, and minivan).
