I'm looking at making some lights with LEDs and curious if anyone knows a good site that explains how to wire it up. I found a few with projects, but I'm planning on a few different things, and I more or less need to know formulas to find out what resistor I need a how much voltage I'll need for a certain LED. I have the basic ideas I just need to figur out how to wire it up.

What are you trying to do?

If you're just wiring some LEDs to a power source, then all you need is V=IR. The voltage drop across a LED is constant so you just need to put a resistor in series to limit the current. R = (Vs - Vd)/I, where Vd and I are specific to the LED used (look at the datasheet).

thanks thats basically what I was looking for. I want to try and rig a night light up with a few in the bathroom, and also illuminate the hallway and stairs.

Hmmm that would be kinda cool:p I just would rather use leds. light is whiter and no burn outs.

A small resistor in series will work just fine. If you're doing it off mains power, you'll need a wall wart AC-DC converter. Like 5v is great, 9 is ideal for most of the less expensive LED's out there.

I like this site: http://www.ledtronics.com/

Good info, and cool stuff.
