DIY iphone battery replacement

My wife's 1G battery is nearly useless nowadays and I was looking to fix it myself. I think I'm comfortable with the installation but is this an acceptable replacement battery type?

Thanks!

Actually I lied, it looks like the 3G batteries are a bit smaller than the first gen so it may not fit right. I'm not sure if the connections changed.

The first iphones batter was soldered in.

You'll have to snip or de-solder it and re-solder the new one in.

The 3G and 3Gs are pressure fitted now and do not require this.
