DIY home security system

I was looking into getting home security, and am curious of some decent DIY setups. I saw one at Menards that would call ya if it was tripped, I'm not too worried about having it monitored, as I have neighbors, and a siren going off should deter most intruders. looking to spend about $200 if possible, for 8 windows, and 3 doors, and maybe one IR. Any and all opinions are welcome. I'd prefer a hardwired system so I don't have to deal with batteries, but like I said open to any and all opinions

All those doors and windows for $200 is gonna be tough.

Are you prepared to do all the drilling and wire running for a hard-wired system? I recently had a wireless system installed and it was a PIA just running the phone and power line to the master control panel.

I can post some links to equipment sites when I get home if you'd like. I did a bunch of research on this 6 months ago but have all the links on my comp at home.

Yeah lots of the house is in the process of getting remodeled now, so I can always knock a hole in the wall😀 also don't need to get all the zones setup now, 3 doors and an IR would work for now, as long as its expandable.

If you want it to be expandable and not wireless, make sure you run the wires while you can even if you're not put switches there yet.

I don't see why they wouldn't, unless yourdoing irreparable s/p damage. you could always get a wireless one and not worry about doing much drilling.

That's what I was thinking. It'd be nice to have one in my apt.

A 12 gauge Beretta, some string and a pulley and you have your door alarm all set!

Here ya go.
you wanna go with a shotgun cause it's less likely to go throw walls and kill your children in the room down the hall.
Plus the sound of a shotgun slide is a sound that everyone will instantly recognize and run.
