Do you contribute to NAMBLA?

Yes, I intentionally picked something that even the majority of liberals wouldn't support. If you don't support NAMBLA, why not? Does that make you closed minded?

It's OK to say "that's wrong" and not support it/associate with it. It's also OK to take the softer stance of "I don't agree with them, I would rather not support them."

If that makes me closed-minded, then so be it.

Viper GTS

they are musicians, right?

then why their spoken statements should affect the air play they get or the number of tickets they sell?

if public weren't image oriented and close minded, none of it would get much attention. It should be about the music.

Thats' the point

Ignore Impreza. He is more close minded than Texmaster. The irony almost takes my breath away.

it's amusing how most native English speakers misinterpret and misuse the word "irony". Just like you did now. Congrats. One language, and you could not even learn and master it properly.

The magnitude of the irony in that statement always catches me off guard. What is the difference between the Dixie Chicks "saying whatever [they] want to say..." and me saying that I really wish they would shut up and fall off the face of the earth?

nothing at all, but i'm talking about how radio stations want to stop playing their records and other miscellaneous measures like that.

I think it's that their views are 'perceived' to be against the norm. Take Bono, for example. He's always been very vocal in his political views. Some people wish he'd STFU but a great number of people don't (well...at least back in the early days of their career). I, for one, think he's doing something useful and isn't just spouting off his ideals for publicity. If people don't like it, that's their opinion but at least that's one celebrity putting his money and his actions where his mouth is.

In the case of Natalie Maines...she's just all mouth. Her words are of no substance so the fact that she's spouting off, imo, screams attention whore.

Personally I really don't give a $hit about the Dixie Chicks or Country music in general....so I guess I will stay out of this thread.

Who cares?

Do you like their music? Do their actions really change whether you like their music or not?

Micheal Jackson is a nut case.... but I still love his music.

Slipknot has got to be one of the freakiest bands evar and I love their music.

Marylin Manson.....also a freak.... still like his music.

Why do you judge artists on what they stand for or believe in? Who cares?

I don't.

I don't listen to country music and I really care less about this whoe ordeal. But with Bono I think it is just the case of more liberal rock audience. And with Dixie Chicks it's more conservative country music listening folk.

Where some people would not really care all that much about political views of the artists they listen to, in case of the DC fans, they just don't forgive straying from the safe railing of what they have been fed for decades.

Or at least that's how it appears to me.

then again. What do I know.

I said a WRX is a riced out Impreza, which is the truth. Yes, they are fast. Yes, I wouldn't mind having one. But I have ridden in one, and at heart they are an econobox.

As for your attack on Millennium, you were completely wrong. You really shouldn't criticize others' grasp of the language when you clearly do not understand it yourself.

To me, it seems like a logical progression. Someone stands for something I disagree with, so I don't want to support THEM (monetarily in this case) because that support would then give them a better financial standing to support that with which I disagree. There are a number of movies that I would really love to go see, but because of certain cast members, I won't. I am not going to lend my support to those who support things I disagree with. For the radio stations, it is obviously just a question of money. If they are playing the Dixie Chicks, and people are offended at them being in the rotation, those listeners are very likely to listen somewhere else. It's a matter of self-preservation.

Let any public figure say whatever they want, but they should be prepared to face the consequences when it comes back to bite them in the butt.

yet, with it being crystal clear that I do not understand yet another foreign language that I thought I was fairly fluent in, in this case, English, somehow, magically, we are still able to communicate. I was even able to understand that you directly attacked/insulted me by calling me a name, where I managed to do no such thing to either you or your beloved friend prior to that in this thread. Wow. Miracles all over the place.

F. U. N. M.

I guess it is my right of free speech in the first amendment that allows me to type that.

Besides, what ever happened to the two original Dixie Chicks? Hmm, it seems Sony ain't saying much about that part of the Dixie Chicks heritage.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

There's also absolutely nothing wrong with the rest of us turning off the morons.

... or mocking them incessantly.
