Divy Up the drive

Guys, I am going to partition my drive up and I need some pointers. I am going to need one partition of 30 GB and five 3 GB partitions for programs and a scratch drive. How would I go about partitioning this 45 GB drive? I need the partitions the way they are.

I need to know what is the best most effient way to divide the 45 GB. Using primary partitions, extended, logic, etc? what do each do? I expect to be reformating the smaller ones about once a month.

Thanx for the help

45 gb drive will give up about 40gb of space

Primary partition = 25 gb
Extened partion = 15 gb, inside which you create the logical drives
Logical drive 1 = 3gb
.
.
.
Logical drive 5= 3 gb

set partion 1 to be active, install os...if win 2k or xp ,just boot from cd and format using the cd's utility....
