divx -> video cd?

Is it possible to convert a divx video file into video CD format? Would there be a considerable drop of quality?

Yes its possible.

Depending on the orignal file, the quality will be decent for VCD playback.

It all depends on the original divx file. I have some vcd's that are dvd quality. Remember: crap in, crap out.

Yes it can (and has been done)

I've converted a 600MB Divx to a 2 disc SVCD set .... the quality did drop a bit as the resolution was cut down to 480x480 ...

reencoding it as VCD would really drop the quality as the resolution is even lowwer.

use virtual dub to extract the audio from the divx and use Tmepg (something like that) to make the mpg needed to make a vcd. Use the divx for the video sourse and use the extracted audio as te aduio source. Pick your settings and click start.
