Divx using Intel compiler?

I'm wondering if anybody here is a good code-head...
Saw this over at the Yahoo message boards...it's a reprint from the Silicon Investor.

Intel compiler cheating

Some versions of DivX have also been compiled with the offending Intel compiler, maybe all.

When I complained on theDivX forum they promptly moved it to "off topic".

By coincidence I contributed to the open source version of DivX and made some large speedups (300-500%) so I have some creds there.

Seems to me that DivX may have known about the Compiler issue and even accepted the Intel shilling. Some 4.x versions of DivX even crashed on non-Intel processors, consistent with the bugs in the Intel 7.x compiler.

Isn't it also true that Intel pushed hardware sites to use DivX in their benchmarking? Now if all that facts are as I believe they are we have a very serious legal situation:

1. Intel knowingly slugged Athlons in their compiler
2. Intel coerced DivX into using the compiler to generate DivX
3. Intel pushed DivX as a suitable benchmark to reviewers

I hope that AMD's legal team is reading this and will do discovery on DivX and the hardware sites.

This goes beyond the allegations in the AMD complaint and enlarges the causes of action - maybe even a RICO (racketeering) penal action for those involved"

Well many programs use Intel Compilers and even AMD is riding Intel's back because software madeusing Intel's tools for multithreaded applications will benefit the x2 also.

The contreversy is that the Intel compiler checks to see if it's an Intel or other processor, and increases the performance of only the Intel processors...
It's part of the antitrust suit...

AMD has already made complaint of this, if I remember correctly.

I knew of the complaints on the compiler, but I wsn't aware of the use of the Intel compiler on Divx...where did you see the complaints?

My real question is...does anyone know code well enough to confirm this?
