Divx Player

I noticed that divx player has an option to enable certain processing that's done on the R300 and later hardware when playing videos. Since I have an R360, I enabled the option, but I can't see any difference. What exactly does it do? Anyone know / wanna guess?

I thinks is BS marketing from ATI.

It might be. I've seen a lot of talk about using the 3d pipeline to do video processing like de-interlacing or de-blocking when the R300 was launched, but I've yet to see it in real world use.

You can use some low resolution divx to compare deblocking, and higher resolution Divx to check out the CPU utilization reduction. I don't use the divx player for playback, but it worked when I tested some time ago.

I'll see if I can't generate some comparison shots in the next couple days. Last time I did any real testing, my opinion was that it wasn't anything special. That was before Divx had Divx HD samples, so maybe its time to revisit.
