Divx Memory Leak

Help, I am getting a memory leak when playing Divx files. After 5 mins, it uses 68 megs of RAM. Then half way in the movie, its like 200megs of RAM!! I often have to stop the mplayer and rerun it to the part I left off. The memory leak is constant, since I see the steady growth in RAM usage in my task manager as a straight line.
BTW, this only happens in mplayer (6.4 and 7.0)...

It cann't be "bad programming" because this doesn't happen to everyone else... or does it? It doesn't happen on my roommate's computer. There must be someway to fix it... is there a way I can reinstall 6.4?

It could be down to your graphics card drivers. They need to overlay the video stream into a window, etc. If you are using an old version, try updating.

I have the same problem.. I've maxed outmy 512 megs of ram..
I just switch divx player.. I use bplayer at the moment.
Stays always at 8 megs

Just out of curiousity, are you running an Athlon system under windows 2000?

I had a very similar problem, and AMD's largePageMinimum.reg fix took care of the problem.

If this sounds like something you want to try, head here

I had the same problem also. It's annoying, but I restarted my comp and started playing the file over again. Had no problems then.

i have the same problem. five minutes into playing the file, the memory max's out. It goes up to about 120megs by Media player 6.4
close media player and start again, does the same thing

did not do it before, just does it now. havent installed any new software or anything related to this problem.
