DivX Codec

I need divx codec but looks like it costs $15. This version appears to have several features that I don't need - all I need really is the ability to play it back. Is there a free version of the codec available, like something that would play it back only?

On a larger scale, all I need to do is to burn several MPEG-4 (divx) encoded *.avi files into a dvd movie. I'm using EZ CD Dvd Builder. Is there a way to do this?

P.S. I know this is better suited for software forum, but that forum is dead right now and I need this done by tonight.

No, that's the free version with no Adware support. Go for it.

Are you positive? Their website mentions 3 versions, 2 of them aren't free and the third one has adware (according to them)

you can also search for the codec, which will let you play the video with windows media player.

you can always install it, and run Spybot or Adaware, too.

Dude, you're making this way too hard. That's the file most of us (yes, me too) d/l to get the DivX codec. It doesn't contain adware.

Thanks it worked. I just did a fresh install of winxp and didn't want to install adware just yet Sorry for being pain in the a$$, I didn't know there was a 4th version.
