Divx 5 & WPM 7 interaction

Okay, here is my situation....video plays fine, no audio. Funny thing is, I install the Divx 3 codec, I get audio & obviously no video on new files. Second situation I undertstand, first one I do not.

W2k, sp 2, 768MB ram, yada yada yada....enough goodies to play this without an issue...XP1800+ in case anyone wants to know that....

Anyone got any grand ideas? Looks like I'm going to try booting over to my XP partition and installing the codec there for now and see what that does....though it is not what I want to do....

TIA!

Divx 5 and 4 are not updated versions of Divx 3 although they are related.

Install Divx 3 then install Divx 5. When it asks you if you want to use Divx 5 codec to play Divx 3 movies, select no.

I know what you said. To make it crystal clear. Divx5 codec + Windows Media Player 7 = no audio, perfect video. I use the Divx 3 codec, I get the audio, no video. Where in WPM can you select that? Beyond that, what good will it do me to use the Divx3 codec when I get no video?

WinXP + Divx5 works fine. This is going to be a pain in my @ss if I have to reboot every time to watch Divx movies without the (crappy)Player....
