that wasnt the pro version, the decoder has the pro image in the about box, probably a bug or something

Anyone think that this is slower than the previous version.. I´m encoding a 430mb mpeg file and at 8fps while when I encoded those files with version 4.12 I got 14fps

Hmmmm, The free pro version contains spyware. Removing with Ad-Aware causes DivX to popup a message saying that a critical component is missing. grrrr!

Gator is the only one that Ad-Aware finds...... are there already stubs for Gator?

Divx3.11 was made by those ;) people
Divx4.12 is made by divxnetworks and so is divx5

Must say I REALY like this version, before I was getting files like 270mb but now it looks like a 140mb file... though its realy slower than before, still waiting for my first divx to finish.

You might want to look at the results before drawing any conclusions.

this was posted on the divx forums lol

<< Hey People!
If you wanna get rid of that crappy gator (SPY-WARE) proggy, just goto run in the start menu then type 'MSCONFIG', then goto the startup tab and uncheck the 'GAIN_TRICKLER_3102' box, then next time you reboot you wont have the spy-ware running, buit you will have the full version of DivX 5 Pro ;p
Well DivX ripped Micro$oft off, so we should rip DivX off!
And the codec is ummmmm ok, but the hype deserved something better I think (although i can encode at over 40 fps, the end result is not really and better than the latest Xvid.. And the playa is absolute crap! Stick with BSplayer! it rocks!

So DivX.. when you say DivX 6 is out?

nevermind, it doesn't work if you try to encode... which I won't be doing much of anyway.

This ROCKS,
Just encoded a babylon5 episode and the size difference between divx4.12 and 5 is beyond anything I could have hoped for

I have encoded 6 other Babylon5 eps with divx4.12 and well.. here

Originals = 430-440mb
Divx4.12 = 248-267mb
Divx5 = 139mb

:D:D sweet sweet sweet.

yes same quality.. but the original video is so bad, an old vhs recording. But there is very little noticable difference on the mpeg and the divx file.

going to divx the next file now and fiddle more in the controls

The results look quite good, but I'll wait for the hack.

I noticed that the latest Zonealarm can block that Trickler thing from connecting to the Internet...
does that pretty much neutralize the spyware?

if you don't encode your own pr0n, i mean videos, then i guess the free no ad version is the way to go, right?

Ad-aware will take out Gator, and Zonealarm (or similar firewall software) can prevent
Trickler from sharing whatever info it collects with the DivX folks or whoever else wants
it.

SoulFlare:

Were you able to remove Gator and still have DivX able to encode? I tried it and it refused to startup.
