I don't get it, the 1st one was a kickstarter wasn't it? Did it really do so poorly that we need to pay for them to develop the sequel?

Our hope is that your pledges will enable us to increase the freedom and depth that will be present in the final game. "

I liked the first enough to back the second.

Backed the first one, backed this one even faster! First one is one of the best games I've played in a loooong time.

I find it sad that they can't get picked up by a publisher, it says a lot about the problems with this industry. The first game did ok and at the time they said they would fund the sequel themselves and with a publisher, but it didn't work out, so it is back to kickstarter which is a shame. But I know it will be an amazing game anyway. They are a great company and everything I loved about the first game is being kept for this game, or even improved.

I think its less about being able to be picked up by a publisher and more about wanting to have creative freedom without the publisher breathing down their neck pushing for release.

KS'ed the first, KS'ed the second because of dwarf and undead as playable races!

Jesus christ I tried to co-op the first one with my buddy (we co-op everything, makes everything more fun.) What a boring game. Oil and fire, oil and fire, pages of text, oil and fire, try to beat the same boss 10 times (the trick is to use oil and fire.) Garbage.

Thanks for sharing that with us.

As usual, I sponsored the first one and have never played yet (actually did that two-game combo level with 'Divinity Dragon Commander' which I have also never played), will probably back this one.

Played the first for ~20-30 hours, kind of good, pretty clunky. Can't say i'll be buying or backing the 2nd though. Maybe i'll get back into it and change my mind. IIRC i just reached the Woods and need to find and perhaps kill a witch of some kind.

So anybody purchased the game from Steam yet?..I'm just wondering if it's worth waiting a little longer depending on how buggy or unpolished the game is, any feedback from those with the game is very much welcomed.

That statement was a little weak. The first one did extremely well and they weren't going to do the kickstarter thing for 2 but the community begged them to do a kickstarter. The reason they are doing EA is that was one of the reason #1 turned out so well. The feedback really helped. To be honest Larian is really a class act. Consider the following: You can buy the game for a discount on the kickstarter; they really listen to feedback; they don't milk you with crappy dlc; they do suppor their games to the best of their abilities years later. I remember with DD emailng them about a crash a year later and getting a link to a fix the next day (not an existing patch but a new patch). To be honest there are a number of really great smaller studios out there that are customer friendly including Larian, Xile, HB and a number of others. It isnt' jsut a question of them always producing great games (they don't); but they really do try to support the customers by fixing issues et all within reason.

I've been playing (10 or 15 hours); kickstarter thing. The game is clearly not finished and normally i wouldn't play this early but i was bored - after this play i'll probably won't play again till 2017. It doesn't crash et all but there are bugs and unfinished assets. It is also not well balanced and no hand-holding. They are suppose to have quest markers but they don't show up :) (guy will say something like let me mark your map where a hidden door exist but the marker doesn't show up; so if you want a no-hand holding experience this is your chance :)

I played the alpha for like 5 hrs last night. I thought it was great. Way better polished than DOS1 was on release I think. I'm really enjoying the game. I wonder if the whole thing is in the alpha? I only ran into a couple issues.

-An item with "PC notes #4523" as a description. Obviously just hadn't been filled in yet.
-My main character was a two hand wielder and it took forever to get offered and upgrade to the weapon you start on the beach with. Didn't come across bows for a long time too. They need to do a better job with that progression.
-At one point my healer stopped gaining AP in a fight and my only option was to have her flee combat. No status. No next turn button.

The progression is a lot smoother than DOS1 was though. That was a rough start. They still need to explain better how all the surfaces and statuses interaction. Playing through DOS1 I learned how important it was, but as a new player in dos2 you're going to have a bad time until you learn. Performance was good. Very few bugs. Writing is pretty good. I would have been happy with this as the release version compared to dos1.
