Divide by Zero is out of control, I can't stop him!!

I just finished a great race with him to 20,000 blocks on Rc5. We started racing at around 9 or 10,000 blocks,I had at least 1 or 2,000 block lead, slowly & methodically he closed in on me.

We both new I had more computing power but he was'nt about to let that stop him. As he closed in I started backing off on Seti & commiting more time to Rc5 blocks.

Thursday, Friday & Saturday, we were neck & neck as we closed in on 20,000 blocks. Midnight Saturday I flushed everything I had which put me at 19,400 or so. I was to tired to stay up & went to bed.

2 hours later I woke up, went back to the comps & flushed again for my victory dance. Unfortunately my grand total was 19,998 blocks 2 blocks short & he was close behind. I was at least 15 minutes away from my next flush.

My wife walked in & said it's 2:15 in the morning you have all these computers going, your running around the house in your underware & holding a calculator, are you nuts? All I could say was ,"I can't let him win".

I was to tired to go on & went bed. When I woke up I checked the stats & the ah heck had 20,020 blocks. He beat me fare & square,

But he's not slowing down, he's pulling away from me like I'm tied to a post. All I can figure is he must have assimulated more ,I thought about challenging him a race to 50,000 but I'm not sure it's safe he's a man with a mission.(Good Race)

ROFL!!! : D

Don't you just love these nice little stories😀 That's fantastic...and I believe my wife could vouch a similar story from my house now and then! 😀

You guys are great...😀 Fun to watch!

I had to edit this: I posted this on IRC and I can't stop laughing....ROTFLMAO...This is great!

Toro 45...WoooooooooooooooMoooooooooooooooooooo!

Now that's a good story!!!

My wife looks at me funny when I get up in the middle of the night to "go to the bathroom" and end up checking stats.

Remember that rubbin is racin

OMG, ROTFLMAO!!!

That is hilarious!!! I figured you were huddled over your computer, calculator open on screen, waiting... secure in a 482 block lead at 2am... taunting me... just waiting as I cranked the AC up, desparately trying anything to make my herd crack a little faster... waiting for me to be able to *taste* 20k... and then with a sneer on your lips you would flush... just 2 blocks to neatly snatch victory from my exhausted grasp!

Actually I was despairing. My cable connection went down at 2am and I didn't have a pProxy, my buffers were low and my Klinux node was feeding from the round robin - after munching it's last 24 blocks it was gnawing on randoms. I fell back to my dial-up connection, bit the bullet and downloaded the pproxy software. After about 20 minutes I finally got it configured and I was back in business! I wouldn't have tackled setting up the pProxy if it weren't for the dire straits I was in.

Ironically it was a telephone call that woke me up at just before 10am ET that allowed me to do that last manual flush to edge me to victory.

And you were using a manual calculator so you wouldn't be wasting one precious cycle! That's great!

Awesome race, Toro!!! It really motivated me to get the Klinux node set up and the pProxy! Whew! I'll race you again anytime you like, you made it fun! Thanks a bunch!

P.S. My secret - I figured out how to use Task Scheduler in Win98 to flush and then shutdown the Athlon 950 just before my wife gets home from work! That way she doesn't hassle me about having the computer on 24/7. It added about 350 blocks a day. The Klinux node, well she doesn't know about that one, its pretty quiet. 😉

WooooMoooo to you Toro!!!

<< ..holding a calculator....All I could say was ,"I can't let him win.. >>

LOL, That's Classic 😀

<< ..rubbin is racin >>

That's Right, if you ain't rubbin, you ain't racin 😉

<< The Klinux node, well she doesn't know about that one, its pretty quiet. >>

LOL, you need more of these. 🙂

OMG!

I almost fell of the chair reading this one! ROFLMAO 🙂

Good Race Toro 45 and divide_by_zero! 😎

It's good to know I'm not the only "fool" keeping late hours just to get one more stat, or one more point across in here or in the IRC channel 😉

[shamelessplug]We still need more people in that IRC channel, join us at irc.worldirc.org #teamanandtech[/shamelessplug]

Keep up the great spirit guys!

With love and respect your fellow TA member

Great story! 😀

By the way, how did you make Task Scheduler flush automatically? Any command line instruction for that?

Also, anyway to make my proxy flush automatically?

MUHAHAHAHAHA...you crazy!

You guys are sick. SICK I SAY ! Keep the spirit 🙂

jinsonxu : to flush the client, execute "dnetc -flush" or "dnetc -update" (even while its running, it will start a second instance that does the job and exits).

I have no trick to flush the pproxy other than hitting Ctrl+break.

/me remembers "Race to 100K, anyone ?"

After some reflecting on the idea of another race,I've decided to challenge divide by zero to a race to 50,000. What do you say have you got another one in you?

This time you have the nice cushy lead but I must warn you, I will show no mercy,I will not sleep, I will have my victory dance & I will crush you like a bug!!

Office Boy, you were smack dab in the middle of the race to 20,000 units. I challenge you to do a 3 way race to 50,000 with us,if you have it in you. "fear the calculator".
Toro 😉

Sir, I take the dropped white glove and slap your face with it!

Let's get it on!

Come'on officeboy, wanna go for a stroll?

(Now why don't those Tekram mobos like any floppy drives I have?
Must get more Klinux nodes up!)

P.S. "Cushy lead" my tush! I know what big guns you're sporting!
I know I'll have to run even harder for this one!

We're using Mika's stats for our totals.

Yeah, o'boy, with just 354 yesterday and 924 the day before and a previous average up around 1500 I figured you were probably SANDBAGGING 😛

Sure, shoot your wad, there's still a road ahead, let's see what you really have!
