Ditching "Normal" Aluminum-Containing Deodorant

Recently I decided to stop using the regular anti-perspirant/deodorant I've been using all my life cause of that aluminum crap in it. I'm trying to be more cognizant of crap I'm putting into my body, or gets put on my body, that might not be the best. Lotta crap messes with your hormones.

Anyway, I first tried using some Arm & Hammer Natural. Well that made my armpits itch insanely bad and I noticed they were pretty red (could've been from me itching or the deodorant, dunno). Stopped using it for a couple days and the itchiness went away. Ok. Then I just tried this Every Man Jack brand. What do ya know, makes my pits itch just like the A&H brand.

LMAO wtf 🐕. I try to stop using that aluminum deodorant and just get owned by the "natural" stuff. I guess I'll try a different brand? LOL fml

To be honest it probably wouldn't even be much of a difference between not using anything at all vs that natural stuff. It's not an anti-perspirant, so it's just deodorant, and it's not that noticeable anyway. I don't sweat, even barely at all working out, so yeah, probably wouldn't even notice much without using anything at all.

I use the Original Tom's of Maine and it works well for me. I get about 9-10 hours out of it for a 'normal' day out and about (Normal = no excessive heat or any workouts. If I'm WFH at my computer desk all day then it lasts all day). I find it helps to pair it with a soap with activated charcoal to get rid of any smell. I still have deodorant with aluminum though for things like long flights though

Like all things 'human,' there's a tremendous difference between different senses. Beyond that, your sense of smell declines with age, supposedly.

I had some problems once with this guy who swore that he didn't stink, but everybody else noticed it. Tried to help.

Another example. Based on experience, it seems that I have an above average sense smell. How much above is debatable. But somebody left wet laundry sit too long and it got a little mill dewy, I can nail that smell as soon as they're in range. My assumption is that either they don't notice or don't think it's very bad. Well, fyi, it is.

Back on topic

You've done the research apparently so how much if any of the aluminum is absorbed into your blood stream? If it's none, I don't see the problem

What's the problem with aluminium? It's the third most common element on Earth it's pretty hard to avoid!

Apparently using it as an antiperspirant isn't good for your health?
Given that it's so common how would you know that using it as an antiperspirant is bad for you versus you just being in contact with loads of it all the time?

I really should try to switch off of that stuff too, but anything else I try and my armpits just drip like a leaky faucet and it's pretty gross. I don't even need to be hot for it to happen. But I would need to experiment more and see if I can find a more natural alternative that works. Regular deodorent on the other hand just masks the BO smell, it doesn't stop it so I don't really want to switch to that. You can notice when someone wears it because it just fills the whole room with deodorant smell. I don't want to be that guy.

My main worry though is prolonged exposure to aluminium has been shown to cause Alzheimer's but some people have also tried to refute those studies, so it's probably one of those things where nobody really knows for sure but best to try to play it safe.

I stopped using it during Covid. Now I use Art of Sport body spray. It’s not antiperspirant, and it was a big change. I sweat a lot when active, nervous, etc… but I think it was a good change overall

Just use pure deordorant like Old Spice. Used it since I was 11, aluminum free and works fine.

I was recently looking for straight deordorant for my wife and couldn't find anything. It's all antiperspirant or some hippie expensive "all natural" crap.

"We say no to aluminum salts, artificial fragrance, propylene glycol, phthalates, and parabens. "

Target and Amazon sells them.
Around 9.00 a stick.
I've seen them at Grocery Outlet stores for 3.99

Old spice, my Dad used it and it fell out of favor. My 21yo loves it.

it ain't my pits that stink...I use a good quality anti-perspirant/deodorant...They haven't yet invented a carbon "fart filter."

Medical mask between the butt and underwear to act as a fart filter. We're all in this elevator together, do your part to stop the spread of deadly farts.
