hi folks, ive got a hard drive im trying to blank out, but even though all the partitions are gone, and everything seems to be in order LILO seems to have the grip o death on my boot record, ive tried fdisk /mbr to no avail, anyone know of any good utilitiees to truly clean a hard drive of all partitions and boot entries?

I had that happen to me . . . the Maxtor utility took care of that problem. Perhaps your WD utility disk can help.

Use this little program called delpart. This thing will get rid of ANY on your harddrive no matter what file system you are using. This program is small but powerful as hell! Just copy the program (delpart.exe) to a boot disk, boot to DOS and type delpart at the prompt. It's pretty self explanatory from there.

I prefer ZAP from IBM. The EXE file there is self extracting - it outputs a .com file and a readme.txt file. Stick the .com file on a boot disk, and follow the directions in the text file.
