I'm imagining that, it could be big, will it? imagine that pixar needs help ( yeah there hugh, just an example) rendering toystory 10, they disribute it to us to render,, thoughts

why should we do the dirty work for the billion-dollar coporations for free? they better pay us to do this

Distributed computing is still in its infancy, but there already exist pay for work projects ;)

Pop by in the DC forum and ask and you'll have lots of answers. One of the companies that offers to pay you for your processing time is Process Tree, I don't think they're paying yet tho' as they're still working on perfecting the client as far as I know.

IMO there's no doubt that DC has a bright and shining future just for the kind of things that are too big to handle for a single "farm" and are non sensitive in nature. Besides it can (already has?!? ;)) become a much cheaper way for research projects that don't have alot of funding to get cheap processing power.
