Had to lay on the horn twice today because of you idiots screwing around with your phones (which is illegal BTW). Light turns green and I'm just sitting there waiting on your dumb ass to move. I gave you a few seconds too. :whiste:

PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD!!!

My favorite is when you throw your hands up like you're angry because I honked at you. If you were awake I wouldn't have honked! Idiots.

How long are you waiting before honking? How long are you honking?

I always give ~ 2 seconds and chirp the horn... never honk, it's not needed.

Both times I was in the left turn lane.

Believe me, I did a lifetime worth of lane-splitting this morning. Traffic was fucked because of an overturned big rig on the 15 freeway at the 56 in San Diego. Nothing like 18 miles of solid gridlock to start your day. :biggrin:
 
It happens, try not to let it bug you too much because it's only gonna get worse. For myself it's not an issue because a $30 flip-phone removes any thoughts of texting while driving LOL although I smoke in the car on occasion, and I sat at a green once digging around for my lighter, got honked at, didn't respond back as it was "my bad"..

Wait was a couple seconds, even longer on the first one as I was trying to remember which was the horn button.

The horn was just a short blast or two. Just enough to wake them up. :biggrin:

In defensive driving we were told to wait a couple seconds after the light changed to give time for the red light runners to pass through. Then we have to add a second for each exasperating circumstance. The first circumstance was that the hot babe crossing to the right, the second was that my mom was being a on the phone, and the third was that I had to squeeze my super-piggy-gulp back into the undersized cupholder. 2+1+1+1 = 5. Five seconds was the appropriate margin of safety. If you don't like it, talk to my defensive driving instructor. The two second rule saves lives. It may have saved your's today and all you can think to do is honk and moan, jerk.

I almost died once cuz some jackass decided to blow the red light by going straight through the left turn lane, in order to bypass the traffic that was stopped for the red light.

I was going straight, not on a bike.

In other words, I was oriented West/East going straight. The other car was going North/South. He blew through the red light by swerving into his left turn lane and then going straight, thus going straight through a left turn lane AND blowing through the red light (accelerating while doing so).

I actually started heading straight when I saw him blow through the light: he swerved a little bit while I slammed on my brakes.

Unfortunately, your example doesn't necessarily match up to most people. At least in my experience from seeing through their rear window 🙂sneaky🙂, most of them just don't pay attention to the light when they stop. To them, stopping is a chance to play with all the doodads in their car, their phone, mess with make-up or whatever. To me, if I'm the first in line, it's my goddamn job to watch that light, and everyone else can just watch the car behind them. Hell, I'll actually watch the cross-traffic's light (if possible) to see when my light is about to go green so I'm even more ready!! I'll keep an eye out for any sneaky-looking cross-traffic (the red-light blowers) and make sure we get out promptly.

On that note, there's no reason to always give an excessive amount of time. At least in my experience, I've found that it's usually easy to notice people that are running red lights prior to actually starting off. Although, that might be more related to the fact that people seem to run red lights around here often because traffic signals are too damn short. In some cases, people are just too damn lazy to wait for the next cycle. 😛

I swear I am experiencing more and more utterly distracted drivers on the road by the day. It is almost always that darn phone. It is getting out of hand
 
CA Courts recently ruled that using your phone for GPS/Map is not against the cell-phone laws.

Stay tuned for a new law next year, but for now, watch out for those who do not have nav.
 
I believe most states dont even have any kind of cell phone law. You can pretty much do whatever you want and have full freedom to be a moron on the road. In my experience, both genders use this freedom fully

Here in CA, there is a blanket "distracted driving" offense that Highway Patrol uses to get people eating, putting on makeup, etc.

I'd be surprised if we were the only one.
