Dissolving Plastic Bags.. safe?

So I was browsing around and found this link with some information about these dissolving plastic bags that is apparently 3 times strong than polythene, and also lighter.

I see it says that it is safe, but I can't help but question how safe it really is.. They are saying flush it down the drain when you're done dissolving. Is that going to contaminate the water with crap?

I hear how theres all kinds of crap in the water already from stuff we are putting into our drains. Anyone have any insight at what this might do to our water supply?

I'm not familiar with the plastic bags in question, but most of the "dissolving plastics" are basically made out of a mixture of modified corn starches, cellulose, and limestone. They're actually safe to eat (though they'd give you horrific indigestion.)

I have been looking at paper that is designed to dissolve. It is very similar, get it wet and it just melts away.

Interesting.. so would filtering it from the water work? Or would there still be a bunch of stuff left in it

dissolves when it gets wet? hope they have them in the UK. can't wait to see someone take their shopping home and it starts to rain
