dissatisfied with work

Anyone here dissatisfied with their current work/workplace and looking to switch or change jobs? I've been working at this place for the past 6 months, and its not very interesting. Havent done anything that I've liked or found an interest in. Anyone else in this predicament? Just curious.

I am feeling slightly dissatisfied but then I think about the security I have in a government job. With the way the private sector is going with ebusinesses and the stock market I am glad I have stability right now 🙂

Yeah, thats part of it. Even though I work for private industry, pretty much all of our work is for the government, and there is lots of it. Thats why I'm reluctant to leave and be part of the uncertain economy.

Well you whiney bastards working for the gov't (just kidding 🙂), if you're going to leave your job perhaps you should weather throughout the rest of this year as we enter into a recession...coming from somebody who has had a very crappy assed job before and quit it the only thing worse than a crappy assed job is no job at all! Also when you do quit a job make sure you have another lined up (I did, but I was recently laid off when my new company died).

I'm hoping to get picked up by a software company very soon and hopefully the position will be secure for a while so I can get some more experience...

Boy is this one timely thread. I love the job that I'm doing however the politics are really driving me up the wall.

Right now I'm developing corporate reports using a tool called Actuate. It's this really cool OO tool that uses VB as a coding language. Unfortunately the company is trying to reduce the amount of reporting tools that it uses. So it looks like my group is going to be folded by the end of the month. I'll probably start looking for a new job this coming weekend. The stupid thing is that there is a hug demand for the types of reports that my group produces but upper management does not give a sh%^. They don't seem to care if the internal clients are pissed off, they just want to save money.

Ahhhhhhh I feel better now.

I have a job interview tomorrow, does that answer your question? If I get it (which I'm pretty sure I will), it'll put me over $31,000 a year. Not too bad at 18.

viper, not bad at all.

i love my job, i love the environment, but i want to leave anyways because there's nothing left for me here and with the economy in the hole, it's kinda difficult. 🙁

Nice Viper! I'm on interview #3 for a company in one hour. I really really hope I get it. I need a damn job! I'm doing well so far...crossed fingers 🙂

<< Sorry to hear that tim0thy, the economy should pick up soon >>

Nothing to be sorry about, at least I have a job that pays me VERY well, and I don't do shiet here most of the time. I just feel that it's time to utilize some of that certification knowledge that I obtained in books and in my test network lab at work (yes, i had enough time to make one of these!)

Yeah, just money and a lot of it does not necessarily result in happiness on the job, you've got to like what you're doing too. The amount of money I get paid while not really high, is pretty decent.

honestly, i don't think i'll ever have it as easy as i have it here now... ever. but you know, it's like you feel useless and you're not doing a damn thing here. the people i support love me and stuff, but I'M BORED! 🙁

Yeah, I'm in a very similar situation here tim0thy, the people here are great and helpful, but its boring as hell.

well the company I work for is screwed anyway, their financials are lower this past year and I cant seem to think them doing anything more. Anyway I will leave them once they move to a new building next week.

I am always dissatisfied. All I want to do is not work and make the same amount of money. Then maybe I will be satisfied.
