I should really just send this to rossman right now.

Anyway I got my credit report and all is good but I have some inquiries I'd like to remove. One of them is "kind of" legit while the others are all legit. However I want some of the more recent ones off. I know that I can challenge them and if they don't get back to trans union they go off record. TU says they look into all non-frivolous disputes. If I simply take the last 3 inquiries made in November and just try and challenge them all doesn't that look silly to trans union? Is there anything they'll do like flag my account for me being a pain in the ass or something? I know that if I challenge these 3 there is a good chance 1-2 of them won't provide the information needed to maintain that inquiry as legit.

Call it underhanded but when I moved here I had to get a whack of inquiries to get started and it's kind of nasty on the old credit report!

To be honest I haven't had that much experience in disputing credit inquiries since 99% of mine are legit and I don't have first hand experience. However I have referred some friends here, after following the simple advice they usually have good luck.

The thing that sucks about inquiries is, anything can trigger one like opening a regular checking/savings account or renting a car or renting an apartment. Some of the descriptions are really obscure also, which makes you think it's not a legit inquiry.

Do everything in writing, keep copies of everything and send it either certified or registered US Postal Mail.

In regards to the correct information that you want off..... It will return rather quickly. Sounds like you are wanting to do what all these "Credit Repair" companies do.

They get a copy of your credit report and then they send 20+ letters on each of the entries. The credit reporting agency has to honor each request. Obviously, they wont be able to get the replies to all 20+ so at the end of 30 days, it is removed. It will be added back on later though.

The nutshell answer is this. If it is correct information that isn't 7 years or older it stays. (yes there are a few exceptions to the 7 year rule)

In regards to inquiries... If you signed anything giving them the right to check your credit then you can't do anything about it. If they did it without your approval ("One of them is "kind of" legit") you are going to be able ot retire a very rich man in about 6 months after you sue the company.

Inquires won't hurt you all that much unless you are applying for credit NOW. After like 6 months, they won't hurt you that much.
