Disposing of Toxic Chemicals

I have a couple cans of paint thinner and other gasoline-based products that I wanna get rid of but of course can't pour it down the drain or just toss em in the trash. Anyone know where I can drop em off or how I can dispose of it properly?

Ok...couldn't find anything in the yellowpages so I ended up just driving down the street and dumping it down the curb sewage/drainage. Thought this was illegal though...
