Disposing of cooking oil?

I got some vegetable oil sitting in my fry daddy. I'm going to be moving and dont want to deal with the hassle of getting oil in my car. What's the proper way of disposing of cooking oil?

Salty and tangy.

Biofuel!

Seriously, alot of communities have local agencies that collect used cooking oils from resturants and such to be turned into biofuel, do some googling and see if they have it in your area...

Refrigerate it in a jar or can that can be sealed then just toss it out with the trash.

Tin can that can't be sealed works too, it'll stay hard enough in the bottom of the can to not make a huge mess. I don't always have a jar that can be sealed laying around.

Would a plastic bottle work?

Sure, as long as you don't have to heat it to pour it in because it can melt through.

Put it in a plastic bottle, tape the neck off and put it on the side of the curb to be picked up with your recyclable waste.

just fill a coffee can or two with it then build an outdoor bonfire around it. It will burn off and smell delicious.

Drink it, and wash it down with whatever other weird liquids in your fridge that you need to dispose of

It's probably in plastic when you buy it fron the store, right?

Oil came into your house in a bottle, I always send it out in the same bottle. It is especially easy when using fry oil, since you will likely use a whole bottle at a time and you don't have the problem of storing good and bad oil with just one bottle.

That said, you probably don't have the bottle any more. So I've used these methods too:
1) Any container you can find. Toss it in the trash.
2) Freeze the oil, no container needed since it is now solid. Toss it into the trash just before the garbage collectors come if you aren't in a cold climate.
3) I believe that for most places oil disposal down the drain is legal for residents (illegal for businesses). Just use enough soap to keep it going smoothly.
