Just got a new BenQ BL3200 which is a 2560x1440 10 bit display. The first day I hooked it up I used the full sized DP cable that came with the monitor and connected it to my 780. All was working good until today (next day), I turned on my PC and the monitor registered an input then said no input detected and continued to do so only with DP. Apparently Windows isn't even starting correctly with DP connected because the auto recovery menu came up after a few tries when I switched to another input.

I've heard about cables being made improperly and leaving pin 20 connected causing 3.3v to flow to where it shouldn't. I'm just not sure whether the cable BenQ supplied with the monitor is at fault. Has anybody had issues with OEM supplied DP cables like this?

Never had an issue with a cable included by the manufacturer aside from the cable being too short, physically. Have you tried other inputs/outputs?

I have the S32D850T (Samsung variant of your display) and the cable packaged worked fine. There could be a chance the cable is faulty, though, I would check all is well with your drivers and display before buying another DP cable.

EDIT:
Sorry, guess I didn't catch the part about the windows recovery. This is not a DP issue, its a driver issue. A bad cable (in all likeliness) would not cause this. Use DDU to do a wipe and reinstall latest driver revision.

So I rolled back to NV 362.00 and now I got DP going again however, 24/23Hz won't work at all! They used to before this whole debacle. Now when I select 24/23Hz the monitor doesn't detect an input and I can't get the PC to output anything until I restart no matter what connection I use. I tried multiple drivers and all of them now work with DP but no 23/24Hz support like I used to get on day one. I think I'll just stick with DVI-DL because everything works with it except 10 bit of course but I guess that doesn't really matter too much.

My hunch is the NV drivers in combination with my card. Either way this has soured me on DP because I've never had any issues with anything TDMS based.

Sounds pretty odd. You wiped, installed latest revision, and still DP wasn't working? I don't see any reason why a driver revision would have any impact on an input working or not.

Wiped with DDU and got DP to work with all the drivers I tested but 24/23Hz just doesn't work on DP but does on everything else.

Just tried with my 980 and now it doesn't even give me output at all but when I switch to anything else it's good. I'm thinking it's a driver issue. At this point I'm just going to stick with DVI.

there is an issue with DP and sleep and the NVidia drivers, it comes up every now and then randomly it seems

check and make sure you set the display adapter to not sleep/turn off in the power settings

I'm using dp with my ultra-wide monitor and it works just fine at 60hz. HDMI would only give me 50hz so I made the switch and I'm using a gtx 780ti and the latest driver 365.19.
