displaying date on digital cam?

So I know that this is not the right place, but I'm too lazy to sign up at a digital cam forum

Anyway, I have an old Canon PowerShot A300. Got it a long time ago but don't use it a lot. The one thing thats been bugging me is the pictures that I take don't display the date and time they were taken. The cam have Digital Print Order that give me the option to display date. However, that is only for if I take the memory card to a store to print right?

For my other question, are newer cams these days automatically display dates when you take pictures so you can see them when you upload them to the computer?

I have no idea what you just said but the date is stored on the exif data and you can also activate the time stamp in the menu somewhere.

If the time is set in the camera the time the picture was taken should be stored in the exif.

In XP you can go to the properties of the picture, then advance summary and if should show the time the picture was taken.

Well you know how old cameras that use film (ie 35mm or whatever), well these display dates on pictures. What happen is my digi cam doesn't. What I'm thinking is that it can't. The only way to is to use DPOF to order print at a place like Walgreens or Bartells.

So my question is I'm I missing something? Like is there a way to do this but I don't know? I didn't see anything on the manual.

Alright so I just found out a software that can use the EXIF info and stamp date and time on my pictures. Problem is that it is not free. Anyone know a way or software to to this for free?

Why would you want to do this? Just use the EXIF data.

The problem is I don't think my camera can do it. Yes, I know that it stores data with date and time. But how the heck do I get it to stamp date and time on the picture so when I upload it to a website to print, it prints with date and time?
