Display to be used as a TV and monitor - advice?

I recently sold my 2001fp and I want to get rid of my old 27" tv (which is huge) and get an lcd tv.

The Gateway XHD3000XHD3000 looks pretty amazing, but at $1,700 is a bit pricey for me.

I can find a whole lot of displays in the 24" - 27" range that Im sure would be great monitors, but would they make good TVs?

Anyone have any experience with using one display for a TV and monitor and have recommendations?

Ideally, on the pc end, I'd like it to be 1900x1200, but it has to be a quality tv as well. I'd be watching hd stuff and maybe some blu-ray movies.

Is there anything like this that could handle SD stuff and produce a decent result?
